This Cookie Policy explains how Soulmate ("we", "our", or "us") uses cookies and similar tracking technologies when you visit trysoulmate.app or use the Soulmate web app. By using our website, you consent to the use of cookies as described in this policy.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device (computer, phone, or tablet) when you visit a website. They help the website remember your preferences, keep you signed in, and understand how you use the site. Similar technologies include localStorage and sessionStorage — local storage mechanisms in your browser that serve comparable purposes.
2. How We Use Cookies
We use cookies and local storage for three purposes:
| Type | Purpose | Can you opt out? |
|---|---|---|
| Keep you signed in to the web app. Store your session token so you don't have to log in every visit. These are required for the app to function. | No — without these the app does not work | |
| Remember your cookie consent choice. Store your companion name and UI preferences locally for faster loading. | Yes — clearing browser storage removes these | |
| Currently we do not use third-party analytics cookies. If this changes, we will update this policy and request consent. | N/A |
3. Specific Cookies & Storage Keys
- sb-[project]-auth-token (localStorage) — Supabase authentication session token. Set when you sign in. Expires when you sign out or after the session expires.
- cookie_ok (localStorage) — Records that you have acknowledged this cookie notice. Set when you click "Got it" on the cookie banner.
We do not set any advertising cookies. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or similar third-party tracking on this website.
4. Third-Party Technologies
Our web app uses Supabase for authentication and data storage. When you sign in, Supabase sets a session token in your browser's localStorage. This token is used solely to authenticate your requests to our backend. Supabase's own privacy policy applies: supabase.com/privacy.
We use Google Fonts to display typography on the website. Google may receive your IP address when fonts are loaded. See Google's Privacy Policy.
5. How to Control Cookies
You can control cookies and local storage in several ways:
- Browser settings: Most browsers allow you to refuse cookies or delete them. See your browser's help documentation (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge).
- Clear localStorage: Open DevTools → Application → Local Storage → delete entries for trysoulmate.app.
- Sign out: Signing out of the web app clears your session token.
Note: blocking essential cookies will prevent you from signing in to the web app. The iOS app does not use browser cookies — it manages sessions natively on your device.
6. Your Rights
If you are located in the EU/EEA or UK, you have rights under GDPR regarding how we process your data, including the right to withdraw consent for non-essential cookies at any time. Since we only use essential and functional cookies, withdrawal of consent means clearing your browser storage as described above.
For any questions about our use of cookies or to exercise your data rights, contact us at soul.test.mate@gmail.com.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as our technology or legal requirements change. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of our website after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
